As reported by Marat Shoranov, rector of the Kazakh National Medical University, 'the demand for corneal transplants is on the rise in Kazakhstan, adding to the over 1mn individuals globally who require such treatment. Early treatment can enable patients to adjust fully and be economically productive, which is of considerable social significance'.
Recently, senator Guldara Nurumova presented a proposal for voluntary financial compensation to facilitate kidney transplantation from non-related donors during a Majilis plenary session.
