Recent reports indicate that Uzbekistan has commenced exporting its latest crop of watermelons at highly competitive prices.
As per expert sources, the first wholesale shipments of these watermelons are being dispatched to various export destinations from the country's southern regions approximately ten days before the usual schedule. The shipments originate from the Surkhandarya and Kashkadarya regions.
Current prices for the local watermelons hover around $0.6 per kilogram, comparable to watermelons exported from Pakistan.
In 2022, Uzbekistan's watermelon exports set a historical record, with a whopping 82,000 tons of watermelons shipped, netting over $18mn in revenue. The primary markets for the country's watermelons were Kazakhstan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.
