Commerce between Uzbekistan and France has tripled in 2023, press service of the Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade reports.
On May 5, the French intergovernmental committee had its ninth conference in Tashkent, led by Laziz Kudratov, Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade, and Oliver Besht, Delegate Minister of France for Foreign Trade, Economic Attractiveness, and Citizens Abroad. Delegates from key ministries and organizations, industrial groups, and business circles from both nations attended the conference. The conference deliberated on how to expand partnerships in commerce, investment, industry, and cultural-humanitarian areas.
The GSP+ beneficiary status resulted in a 3.5-fold rise in exports to France in 2022 and a three-fold increase in bilateral trade this year, indicating an upward trend of expanding trade turnover. The necessity of utilizing current resources to develop and broaden bilateral commerce, on the other hand, was stressed.
Removing trade constraints, creating commercial houses, staging mutual exhibits and fairs, and drafting a medium-term policy for bilateral commerce growth were among the proposed steps. The panel also explored future relationship opportunities in the banking and finance and tourist industries.
A memorandum of understanding, an agreement on collaboration for the development of the textile sector, and an agreement within the scope of the worldwide all-season resort project "Construction of the Chimgan tourist zone" were all inked.
The final report of the HC meeting wrapped the meeting's results, such as contracts on collaboration for the establishment of the all-season tourist center in Chimgan, the upgrading of the Kashkadarya region's water-supply system, and the laying down of main water pipelines in the city of Yakkabog.
