Uzbekistan intends to transfer four airports, counting Andijan, Namangan, Bukhara, and Urgench airports, to the private segment in 2023. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced this at the Tashkent Investment Forum on April 27, media reports.
'In the aviation sector, which was utterly state-owned, five private airlines have now appeared, and Samarkand Airport has been transferred to the management of Air Marakanda. This helped increase the flight frequency by 2.5 times', the President said.
'We are also launching huge changes in the railway sector. So I ask investors to participate in this process actively', Shavkat Mirziyoyev added.
