Iran has sent around 300,000 artillery shells and 1mn rounds of ammunition to Russia during the last half a year, WSJ reports.
The armaments are delivered on Russian ships across the Caspian Sea, with the most recent shipment leaving Iran at the beginning of March 2023. The load that was found on the Russian tanker "Rasul Gamzatov" at that moment, according to accounts, consisted of approximately 2,000 artillery rounds. Upon offloading in Astrakhan, the ship went back to Iran before departing for Russia once more at the end of March.
Sky News reported earlier that Iran surreptitiously provided Russia with weaponry in January 2023, comprising of 100 million cartridges, roughly 300,000 shells, explosives, mortars, and firearms, along with approximately 10,000 armored plates and helmets.
Furthermore, Iran was said to be planning to provide Russia with "Fateh-110" and "Zulfiqar" strategic missiles in the fall of 2022. According to the Financial Times, Russia has not yet ordered these missiles because it fears the US would retaliate by equipping Ukraine with long-range ATACMS missiles.
