Nima Saeed Abid, the World Health Organization (WHO) representative in Sudan, announced that insurgents in Sudan recently took control of a medical facility that housed deadly disease specimens.
According to the laboratory's director, one of the warring sides turned it into a military camp, despite it containing samples of polio, cholera, and measles. The WHO official voiced his fear about the possibility of biological threats related to the seizure of the healthcare system's primary facility.
The country's health minister says that the current war in Sudan involving the Rapid Action Force (RRF) commanded by Mohamed Hamdan Daglo and the armed forces led to roughly 600 deaths as of now.
Since the battles started on April 15, WHO has documented 459 fatalities and 4072 injuries as a consequence of warfare, whereas the Sudanese Doctors Union has claimed 256 fatalities.
