Car prices in Afghanistan have dropped by 50%, according to the Daryo correspondent in Afghanistan.
The number of car sales in the country is lower compared to the past. Car dealers say that people are no longer interested in buying, despite a significant drop in prices.
Cars that used to cost $10,000 are now reportedly selling for $5,000.
A list of previous and current prices is presented below:
Toyota Corolla (2007) used to be sold for $10,000, and now - from $5 to $6,000;
Toyota Corolla (2003) used to cost $8,000, now $4,000;
Mercedes-Benz (2006) cost $12,000, now $5,000;
Prado (2010) cost $18,000, now $10,000.
These are vehicles developed in Japan, Canada, America, and Germany, which are supplied to the markets of Afghanistan.
Fardeen, one of the car dealers in Mazar-i-Sharif, said his cheapest car cost $2,000 and his most expensive car $40,000.
The majority of people are said to be interested in cars in the range from $3,000-$5,000.
