Taliban movement is selling humanitarian aid in the Bamiyan region of Afghanistan, Hasht-e Subh Daily reports referring to local Afghan sources.
The head of the intelligence service and other Taliban officials are reportedly selling the aid in the market. Some organizations distributing aid are allegedly required to give a share to local Taliban officials and their relatives before starting their aid programs.
Local sources stated that this is not the first case of the Taliban selling humanitarian aid. The aid sold reportedly included rice, beans, and oil from Chinese charity organizations, Azizi Bank, and Islamic Bank.
The report also claims that many people and organizations are aware of this situation but are too afraid to speak up about it. In the past, residents of Bamiyan have complained about Taliban officials interfering with the distribution of aid and expressed concern that only a small amount of the aid goes to needy families.
