The Russian diplomatic mission in Saudi Arabia announced that a boat carrying three Russian residents went missing in the Red Sea after departing Saudi Arabia's harbor of Jizan, "TASS" reports.
The sailboat "30 Minutes" set out on April 17 for Djibouti in East Africa. After mooring near Rumin Island, the ship disappeared from radars. The boat's automated identification system transponders have been disabled, and contact with the onboard personnel was lost. The search was launched on April 20.
Nadezhda Rasina, the captain's wife, said that the crew was expected to arrive in Djibouti on April 19 and that the ship went missing in the waters between Saudi Arabia, Eritrea, and Yemen. While the Russian Embassy in Saudi Arabia said there is no indication that the ship was captured by pirates, the current state of the sailors is unclear.
