In January-February, China’s trade with Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan climbed by 22% compared to the same period last year, Dunyo reports citing Xinhua.
Trade between China and five Central Asian countries reached a historic $70.2bn last year. In 2022, Chinese imports of agricultural, energy, and mineral products from these countries surged by more than 50%, while exports of mechanical and electronic products grew by 42%.
By the end of 2022, China’s direct investment in five Central Asian countries had comprised almost $15bn. Besides, several cooperation projects have been launched in oil and gas exploration, production and processing, connectivity, and digital technologies.
Earlier, Daryo reported that Uzbekistan's Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade, Laziz Kudratov, on April 18, took part in the first Meeting of Ministers responsible for foreign economic and foreign trade activities in the format Central Asia – China to discuss the current state and prospect of strengthening trade, economic, and investment cooperation, including in the field of investments.
