Bus passengers in Karaganda can now download e-books via the QR code, media reports. The catalog contains both domestic and foreign classics. So far, stickers with QR codes have appeared in 22 buses of the most popular routes. Soon, the electronic library will be available on 60 more buses.
'We asked the residents of our city to say what kind of literature they prefer. Therefore, the opinions of the population will guide us. In addition, we plan to install these QR codes in public venues such as banks, train stations, and airports', Lyazzat Akilzhanova, deputy mayor of Karaganda, told the media.
Karaganda is a city in central Kazakhstan, located about 200 kilometers south of the capital city Astana. It is among the country's top five largest cities, with around 500,000 people. The city is home to several museums, theaters, art galleries, and many parks and recreational areas.
