The Taliban organization has barred females and their families from visiting restaurants with gardens or green areas in the Herat region in northwestern Afghanistan, Times of India reports.
These steps were made in response to concerns from religious academics and members of the public regarding gender discrimination in such settings, according to an anonymous official. The Taliban said that the ban was imposed because of gender misinterpretation and women putting on the incorrect hijab.
For the time being, the outside eating prohibition only applies to Herat restaurants, and it does not apply to males.
It is the most recent in a string of limitations imposed by the Taliban since they took power in August 2021.
Previously, Afghan women were forbidden from employment at UN offices, men from making clothing for women, women from seeing male physicians, activities in wedding halls, and women were additionally prohibited from attending universities and schools, as well as traveling to medical facilities alone, and going to theme parks.
