A flood reservoir with a project cost of $5.8mn was put into operation in the Dehkhanabad district of the Kashkadarya region, the press service of the district administration reports to "Daryo".
The regional governor Murodjon Azimov, sector leaders, regional activists, and residents took part in the opening of the flood reservoir.
The Dehkhanabad flood reservoir was completed and put into use in 1982, and the volume is designed to collect 15.4mn m³ of water.
As a result of the use of this flood reservoir for many years, mud and sediments accumulated in the reservoir, and the volume of useful water decreased by 12.4mn m³ - to only 3mn m³.
"The construction of this flood reservoir is one of the most urgent issues in the Dehkhanabad district, and it was considered very necessary for water supply in 29,000 hectares of residential areas and 1,600 hectares of land in the district.
Based on this, $5.8mn of the republic's budget was allocated for increasing the volume of the flood reservoir to 20mn m³ during 2017-2022.
In 2020-2022, during the visits of the president to the Kashkadarya region, this urgent issue was raised in the agricultural sector, and he used all the possibilities to accelerate the construction of this reservoir, to ensure the well-being of the population and food security, and to complete the construction of the reservoir this year," - says district governor Zoir Alikulov.
The construction works were carried out by the construction engineering company "Yakkabog Kurgoni" under the order of the state institution "Kashkadaryosuvqurilishinvest".
