Israeli police report one person dead and five injured in the Tel Aviv attack on the night of April 7. Among the injured were British and Italian tourists.
According to reports, an unknown person opened fire on people walking down Kaufman Street and then drove a car into the crowd at the nearby Charles Clore Park. A 30-year-old Italian citizen Alessandro Parini died from the gunshot and the identities of other injured are being investigated.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called for the mobilization of additional police and military forces among the army reserves.
The attack comes against fears of an escalation of the conflict in the area. On April 6, Israel was attacked with rocket fire from Lebanese territory. In response to this, Israel launched airstrikes in the Gaza Strip and southern Lebanon on the night of April 7.
