A person trying to import elephant tusks and deer horns amounting to $2,806 was stopped at the "Gishtkoprik" border customs post in the Tashkent region.
The press service of the regional customs department reports that a Cobalt car, driven by a citizen who entered from a foreign country, moved through the border customs post and passed the customs inspection. As a result, it was found that 1 African elephant tusk and 180 reindeer antlers were hidden under the car seat.
The deer antlers and 1 piece of ivory with a total value of $2,806 did not have any official documents when asked by the inspectors.
Additionally, all species of elephants and their body parts are included in the Red List of the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
The situation is currently under investigation.
