Jakhangir Hidaykhojayev was appointed the head of the Foreign Labor Migration Agency in Uzbekistan, the press service of the agency reports.

Prior to his appointment, he held different posts at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From June 11, 2019, to August 14, 2020, he served as an advisor to the minister of Foreign Affairs.
Afzal Irmatov, the former director of the Foreign Labor Migration Agency, was accused and detained by law enforcement agencies under applicable Criminal Code provisions.
Meanwhile, the migrant population of Uzbekistan reached 3.5% of the total population (1.16mn) by 2021, as UN Migration informs.
