A delegation of the Fergana region chaired by its governor Khayrullo Bozorov visited the major industrial center of the Republic of Korea, Pyeongtaek, to meet with its mayor Jung Jang-Seon. The parties discussed strengthening trade and economic ties between the Fergana region and Pyeongtaek and establishing cooperation between Gyeonggi and Kokand Free Economic Zones.
Besides, the meeting focused on creating infrastructure for producing high-yield industrial products in the Fergana region, studying the city’s experience in attracting foreign investment, and focusing on unveiling opportunities for Fergana specialists to work in multinational industrial companies in Pyeongtaek to gain experience and training.
Jung Jang-Seon, Pyeongtaek City mayor, admitted that the economy of Uzbekistan, historically located in the center of the Great Silk Road, sees dynamic growth. Therefore, the South Korean city is ready to support the economic development of the Fergana region on a mutually beneficial basis.
Pyeongtaek is home to over 3,600 production facilities. In addition, nearly 200,000 of the city’s population are employed.
Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea have a strong and positive relationship that has developed since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1992. The relationship is based on mutual respect, cooperation, and shared interests in economic development, trade, and cultural exchange.
