Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed regional governors and ambassadors to attract 7mn foreign and 15mn domestic tourists and increase exports to $2.5bn, the press secretary of the president reports.
According to the President's order, he met several times with representatives of tourism operators, hotels, transport companies, and universities, and discussed their problems and suggestions.
It was noted that there is little content about places that actively attract tourists, not all of them are interesting, and there is a lack of tour packages that will keep tourists for 4-5 days. There are a lot of uncertainties in booking and buying road tickets 3-6 months in advance. Museums, theaters, and cultural centers are not connected with tourism programs, and their working hours are not based on the demand of tourists.
Mirziyoyev criticized that the officials of the sector are not systematically dealing with these and other shortcomings and pointed out the directions in which drastic changes should be made.
