Traffic police inspectors in Uzbekistan can now check drivers not only for the presence of alcohol in their bodies but also for drugs, following amendments to the regulation on the interaction of traffic police officers with road users and the procedure for using special devices.
Reportedly, traffic police inspectors and breathalyzers will use a drug tester that would help determine the presence of narcotic or psychotropic substances in the driver's body, in particular, examine the concentration of ethanol vapor in the air emitted from the driver's mouth.
The document was published in the national database on March 25 and entered into force on March 28.
