The German embassy in Uzbekistan on March 28 reported that the German Armed Forces have funded upgrading security and surveillance technology at Termez International Airport to international aviation standards. Reportedly, these technologies will be installed along the outer barrier of more than 12 kilometers and in the operational center at the airport. More than €1mn has been allocated for these purposes.
In particular, modern, economical LED lamps were used for lighting equipment. The German military attache was able to see the completion of the installation work at the airport this week.
'We were greatly impressed by the modernization work carried out at Termez International Airport, and we are pleased to have made an effective contribution to it,' the report reads.
According to the embassy, from 2002 to 2015, the German Armed Forces used Termez International Airport as a strategic hub for air transport within its international mission in Afghanistan.
"However, even after the withdrawal of the German Armed Forces, we are closely connected with this airport on the way to becoming a modern international commercial airport," the embassy said.
