The Malaysian Institute of Agricultural Research and Development (MARDI) representatives and the National Center for Knowledge and Innovation in Agriculture under the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan held an online meeting to discuss agriculture reforms in Uzbekistan, particularly the improvement of the state administration system, and the broad introduction of market relations.
In addition, the meeting discussed aspects of studying Malaysia's experience in providing agricultural services, attracting specialists and agronomists of the country in Uzbekistan, and developing cooperation between the two organizations, Dunyo reports.
Following the talks, the parties agreed on a visit of Malaysian specialists and agronomists to Uzbekistan.
Established in 1969, MARDI is engaged in the creation of new high-yield varieties of agricultural products, the introduction of modern advanced technological solutions, research, and commercialization in the field, including the efficient use of land and water resources, as well as the implementation of scientific achievements in the agro-industrial complex. The Institute has special laboratories for testing new innovative scientific developments. The MARDI has about 3,000 employees.
On June 2, 2021, the National Center for Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation and MARDI inked a memorandum of understanding.
