Turkmenistan, which is an observer in the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS), aims to become its full member.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, head of Turkmenistan's highest representative body, Khalk Maslakhaty (People's Council), said this at a meeting of the organisation in Ankara, Türkiye.

"In this regard, it was hoped that during the next visit of our President (Serdar Berdimuhamedov) Turkmenistan will be admitted to the OTS already as a member of this organization," the information said.
The Turkic Council of Cooperation, established in 2009 on the principle of blood kinship and comprising Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey and Uzbekistan, was transformed into OTS in 2021.
