'The leader of Uzbekistan not only supported the people of Türkiye and his Türkiye's colleagues but also offered practical assistance in resolving humanitarian issues,' Head of the South Caucasus Political Science Club Ilgar Velizade said, commenting on the participation of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the Extraordinary Summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Ankara, Dunyo reports.
'Of particular interest are Shavkat Mirziyoyev's proposals for establishing a Centre for Monitoring and Analysis of Natural Disasters at the OTS in Tashkent. As you know, a significant area of the Turkic world is in the zone of seismic activity, and the organization of this center will allow a more comprehensive and purposeful approach to risk assessment and identification of pockets of seismic activity to exchange information in this field, as well as to share the development of specialists.
And the cooperation of the OTS with the Global Fund for Disaster Risk Reduction, the Secretariat of the UN International Strategy for Disaster Risk Reduction, and The Central Emergency Response Fund will increase the effectiveness of this structure and optimize its links with the world centers for seismic research and disaster management, Ilgar Velizade concluded.
