Uzbekistan stands for a full-fledged free trade regime with Turkmenistan, the Orient (Turkmenistan) reported.
The information quoted Uzbek Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjayev, who spoke at a meeting of the joint Turkmen-Uzbek intergovernmental commission for cooperation in Ashgabat.
"...It is important to coordinate actions to launch a full-fledged free trade regime, to establish the Shavat-Dashoguz border trade zone, and in the future to create a second similar zone," he said.
The total trade volume between the two countries was close to a billion dollars in 2022. "This is a good result, but it does not reflect all our capabilities," he added.
It will be recalled that the launch of the construction of a border-free trade zone on the border of the Khorezm region of Uzbekistan and the Dashoguz region of Turkmenistan was given during the visit of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Turkmenistan in October 2022. The project plans to create modern infrastructure, including trade pavilions, storage facilities, container sites, and workplaces for entrepreneurs.
