One of the largest chemical factories in Uzbekistan is to be offered for sale this fall, according to State Assets Management Agency (SAMA).
Shares from the statutory fund that belongs to the state and state-owned holding "Uzkimyosanoat" are being offered for sale. Both privatisation of the entire company and the sale of independent departments, production chains, and services are under consideration.
Earlier last year, the enterprise has been under technical evaluation with IFC. The talks about the sale of the company have been circulating since Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Kuchkarov announced plans for the privatisation of Navoiazot during Uzbekistan Economic Forum 2022 in Samarkand.
SAMA has also announced a call for a senior consultant to develop a strategy for the privatisation process.
The plant is engaged in the processing of natural gas, the production of fertilizers, reagents for gold miners, and low-tonnage chemical products.
It produces more than 30% of the country's chemicals and is one of the largest chemical enterprises in the country.
In 2021, Navoiazot exported products worth UZS 6.9bn, mainly to the countries of Central Asia and Europe. Net annual income amounted to UZS 3.1 trillion ($273.5mn)
