The houses were reportedly flooded in the Tortkol district of Karakalpakstan on February 24 due to increased water pressure in the canal. The prosecutor's office of Karakalpakstan announced that a criminal case had been opened against a number of officials.
As a result of the flood, the houses and auxiliary facilities of 7 citizens living in this area were damaged. No one was injured in the incident. The Ministry of Emergencies eliminated the flood by 07:00 on February 24 and cleared the courtyards of the accumulated water.
Officials of the Dzhokorgi Council of Karakalpakstan, the Council of Ministers, and the public prosecutor's office arrived at the scene of the incident. They studied the situation and gave relevant tasks to the heads of the regional sector and other officials to eliminate the consequences of the flood.
In connection with the situation, on the same day, the Tortkol district prosecutor's office issued an indictment against the officials of the Pakhtaarna-Naiman irrigation network department and the Tortkol district Irrigation Department and others.
The expertise was appointed to determine the damage caused to citizens within the framework of the criminal case. Currently, investigative efforts aimed at identifying the culprits of the incident are being carried out, and a legal decision will be made up based on the result.
