The presidential decision "On measures for the further development of the silk industry" was adopted on February 24 to encourage the production of high-quality silk products, to ensure the stable operation of republican silk industry enterprises, and comprehensive development of the silk industry.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs, together with Uzbekipaksanoat, starting from the spring season, will begin to conclude contracts with penitentiary institutions. The latter will be engaged in the production of raw silk. Also, by decision, from March 1, 2023, to January 1, 2026, cocoon processing and cocoon seed producers will receive a subsidy of UZS120,000 for each box of silkworm seeds delivered directly to cocoon breeders.
In May 2022, it was ordered to extend the terms of certain tax benefits provided to the silk and livestock industries. With the document, the period to maintain the land tax rate for producers of livestock products at the amount set in 2018 was extended until 2026.
