A total of 7,242 aftershocks have hit Türkiye in the past half month since powerful earthquakes struck the southern part of the country on February 6, the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority said Tuesday, CGTN reports.
Forty-one of the aftershocks measured between magnitude 5 and 6.
The quake-related death toll in Türkiye and Syria has exceeded 48,000 as of Tuesday.
Türkiye was hit by two devastating earthquakes on February 6 - the first with a magnitude of 7.7, followed by another one with a magnitude of 7.6 just hours later. Neighboring Syria was also severely affected by the earthquakes.
