President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who arrived in Bahrain on an official visit, will hold talks with King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa on Wednesday.
The report said the fuel and energy sector, which is of strategic importance to the economies of the two countries, is a priority in the bilateral partnership.
This is a return visit. In March 2019, the King of Bahrain visited Turkmenistan and energy companies were invited to participate in the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project, the construction of which began in 2015.
The Asian Development Bank (ADB), which had been lobbying for a transnational energy project to South Asia, has suspended its activities in the transit country, Afghanistan, pending international recognition of the Islamic Emirate's government. The presidential palace in Ashgabat regularly says this project, which could bring peace and stability to the region, needs to be "accelerated".
Turkmenistan has also invited Uzbekistan to join TAPI during high-level negotiations.
