According to the Ministry of Justice, 350 corruption factors were found in 243 of the legislative documents examined in Uzbekistan in 2022.
During 2022, 1,860 legislative documents related to social protection, finance and banking, entrepreneurship, foreign economic activity and customs work were subjected to anti-corruption examination. According to the Ministry’s examination, 350 corrupt factors were identified in the documents.
The experts also detected 293 suspicious projects but no corrupt factors were detected in them. However, when these projects were examined by the Ministry of Justice, 457 corrupt factors were revealed.
In addition, in 2022, 280 projects and 18 current legislative documents were assessed by the Ministry revealing 136 of the projects were not assessed by the ministries and agencies, and the completed reports on 144 were not up to the required level.
It was also noted that to create a "corruption-free legislation" until 2026, about 21,000 existing legal documents will undergo an anti-corruption examination.
