The rescue team from Uzbekistan continues to participate in search and rescue operations in the earthquake-hit areas of Turkey, Dunyo reports.
According to Anadolu, at least one hundred Uzbek rescuers have been working for more than ten days in the southern province of Hatay, affected by the earthquake. Rescuers coordinate their actions with representatives of the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD).
One of the Uzbek rescuers said to Anadolu on Thursday (February 16) that he will remain in the country until the end of search and rescue operations.
'We rescued 70 people alive from the rubble. When we handed over the wounded to their families, both of us were very happy. We are here until the search and rescue efforts are over,' Ubeydullah Rozmetov told Anadolu in an interview.
Noting that they came to the province of Hatay to assist in search and rescue operations, Rozmetov said they did so immediately after the news of the earthquakes, the agency reports.
According to recent figures, the death toll in Turkey has reached 38,044.
