Experts of the National Research Institute for the Development of Communications in Moscow presented a “rating of the friendliness of communication modes” among 14 post-Soviet countries towards Russia.
The states were evaluated according to 68 indicators: foreign policy, economics, media communications, communications in education, science, culture, youth relations, religious dialogue, and others.
On a 100-point scale, Belarus is recognized as the closest to Russia followed by Kyrgyzstan in second (60.6). Uzbekistan, having gained 59.3 points took third place in the ranking of “the closest and friendliest” countries to Russia.
Kazakhstan and Armenia, Russia allies in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and the Eurasian Economic Union, along with Tajikistan, which sends hundreds of thousands of migrant workers to Russia, and Turkmenistan bound with energy contracts, are behind Uzbekistan.
“In general, the vast majority of people retain an internal positive attitude towards Russia in friendly countries. But in some, now efforts will be required, perhaps special projects and programs for the development of communications (Kazakhstan),” the institute said in a statement.
In the ranking, Georgia and Moldova are among the “relatively friendly” countries. Among the "unfriendly" countries are Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Ukraine.
