Special Representative of Uzbekistan’s President for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev on Tuesday (February 14) met with UK Ambassador to Uzbekistan Timothy Torlot. Reportedly, the two sides reflected on regional security, including the situation in neighboring Afghanistan.
Ambassador Torlot praised Uzbekistan’s continuous efforts to develop a consolidated regional position on Afghanistan, ensure the country’s long-term peace and stability, and provide humanitarian assistance to the people of neighboring Afghanistan.
Particular attention was drawn to implementing Uzbekistan’s initiative to create an international negotiating group under the auspices of the UN.
