President Shavkat Mirziyoyev spoke about transforming Jizzakh from an agricultural region into an industrial one during his trip to the region.
"Billions of dollars of investment have been channelled in the last six years to establish new industrial enterprises in the region which has led to the increase of the production volume by 1.9 times.
Before, the staple product of the region was cotton fibre, but now high-tech products such as electrical engineering, optical fibre, automobiles, complex chemicals, and energy-saving materials have started dominating the sector," the head of state said.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev said that industrial exports reached 166 million dollars.
"45 projects worth 370 million dollars are currently being implemented in the Jizzakh free economic zone. Sustainable development of our economy, rapid penetration of world markets and creation of high-paying jobs may be achieved only through the industry. For that, in the next two years, major projects will be launched in Jizzakh in the fields of automobile engineering and metallurgy," the president said.
