In January 2023, cases of illegal use of electricity in the amount of 5.6 billion soums were revealed. 
The Law enforcement officers and the inspection department under the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan uncovered 511 cases of illegal usage of electricity, which corresponds to the average monthly consumption of 33.5 thousand houses.
Most of the cases were recorded in Surkhandarya, Samarkand, Syrdarya, Khorezm, Bukhara and Tashkent regions.
