He Zhenwei, the Secretary-General of the China Overseas Development Association and Senior Economist shared his views on President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s visit to neighboring Kyrgyzstan, Dunyo reports.
‘The outcome of the state visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Kyrgyzstan will serve as a significant impetus for the further development of business contacts between entrepreneurs of the two countries.
The business forum held within the framework of the visit and the signed contracts worth about $1.6bn mirror the dynamic development of trade and economic relations and the aspiration of the two countries to further intensify practical cooperation.
The trade and economic dialogue between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan are mutually beneficial. It is worth noting that in recent years the development of economic cooperation between the two countries has gained momentum and realized the previously unused potential of cooperation in trade, investment, and industrial collaboration.
The economies of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan have sufficient potential to overcome the $2bn mark in the near term, including by increasing mutual supplies of various products.
The inked agreements, notably the Intergovernmental Strategic Economic and Trade Partnership Programme for 2023-2025, will give a new impetus to expanding business ties between the two countries.
China generally welcomes the comprehensive development of regional cooperation in Central Asia, which contributes to promoting collaboration within the One Belt, One Road initiative framework, Senior Economist noted.
