Centre of Hydrometeorological Services at the Ministry of Emergency Situations (Uzhydromet) has reported that devices to measure air quality showed a high pollution level in the morning in Tashkent, and Uzbekistan's capital topped the IQAir world ranking due to ire droplets as concentrations of criteria pollutants did not exceed the acceptable standards.
On Sunday and Monday, Tashkent again joined the list of the world’s most polluted cities according to IQAir rating. On the afternoon of January 22, the largest city of Uzbekistan was in the top 5 world's most polluted cities, and on Monday (January 23), Uzbekistan's capital topped the list.
Commenting on the rating, Uzhydromet said that the concentration of CO - carbon monoxide, SO2 - sulfur oxide, NH3 - ammonia, and dust did not exceed the allowable normative quantities in Central Asia's most populous city. However, due to vehicular traffic, the amount of nitrogen oxides surged by 0.2-0.3 times to acceptable standards, but the report said this indicator does not harm human health.
