The Acting Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyor Saidov, on Sunday (January 22), held a meeting with Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Khusrav Noziri, who arrived in Uzbekistan to participate in the 26 Meeting of ECO Council of Ministers.
The two sides discussed the current state and prospects of multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and ECO. Khursav Noziri noted the active and energetic chairmanship of Uzbekistan in the Organization in 2022, which, at the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, was declared the Year of Strengthening Interconnection in the ECO.
The importance of the events held under the chairmanship of the Republic of Uzbekistan, including the meeting of the Regional Planning Council, the heads of ministries of agriculture and tourism, talks on renewable energy sources, etc., was emphasized. The Secretary-General also congratulated the Uzbek side on the election of the ancient city of Shakhrisabz as the tourist capital of the Organization in 2024.
The parties stressed the need to use interaction potential more effectively, especially in trade, investment, transport and communications, and energy, to achieve the goals in the Prospects for ECO 2025.
