Turkmenistan is gradually resuming gas exports to Uzbekistan, the Uztransgaz has reported. Reportedly, the neighboring country suspended gas supplies to Uzbekistan from January 12 due to extreme cold. Uztransgaz informed that Turkmenistan had resumed gas supply from 4.8mn cubic meters per day, and today this figure is extended to 12.6mn cubic meters.
'Gradually, the daily supply volumes will surge to 16mn cubic meters. That is how much was supplied before the cold,' the message reads.
On January 19, Turkmenistan's President Serdar Berdimuhamedov visited the Galkynysh gas field 75km southeast of the provincial capital Mary in Turkmenistan, and about 400km southeast of the capital Ashgabat.
In December, Uzbekistan inked a short-term gas supply contract with Turkmenistan.
