On January 20, the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan issued a resolution 'On accelerated measures for the implementation of pilot projects to provide the population of Tashkent with additional thermal and electrical energy'. The document notes that it was adopted under the instructions given by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during his visit to the Uchtepa district.
According to the resolution, cogeneration equipment and gas engines will be installed for parallel production of electrical and thermal energy in 11 districts of the capital.
Uzbek embassies abroad must establish contacts with foreign equipment manufacturers within a week and make commercial proposals to the Government for its urgent import and technical support.
If necessary, internal and external heat and power grids will be repaired in residential buildings in the zones of operation of the new installations.
'Thermal Power Stations' company is allowed to purchase, by exception, to install and launch equipment by selecting the best offers without having to carry out expertise in the Center for Complex Examination of Projects and Import Contracts under the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
The equipment purchase will be financed from additional sources of the budget of Tashkent.
Eleven mahallas have been selected for installation, providing additional heat and electricity to 236 houses, five schools, and 13 kindergartens.
