A Golden AK-74 assault rifle was detected in a passenger suitcase flying from Yekaterinburg, the fourth-largest city in Russia, to Uzbekistan's capital Tashkent. The gun was seized by customs officials and handed over for examination.
Reportedly, the man carrying the weapon to the Central Asian republic, presumably as a gift, attempted to pass through the green corridor of the airport.
During the interrogation, the passenger claimed that the rifle had already been 'removed from the list of firearms and processed by jewelers, and he was taking it as a gift to a dear friend.'
Following the Russian Federal Customs Service data, manufactured in 1974, the rifle's covered with embossed gold and precious wood.
