January 12. Shavkat Mirziyoyev made a speech at the plenary session of the "Voice of the Global South" summit held online under the chairmanship of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and put forward initiatives aimed at supporting developing countries.
According to the press service of the President, the event organized within the framework of India's chairmanship of the G20, brought together the state leaders from Vietnam, Guyana, Mozambique, Senegal, Bangladesh, Mongolia, Thailand, Cambodia Hun Sen and Papua New Guinea.
The President of Uzbekistan supported India's chairmanship of the G20 and put forward a number of practical initiatives regarding the issues on the agenda.
First of all, Uzbek President proposed to improve the existing international trade system, taking into consideration the "voice of the Global South".
Another strategic issue is the active promotion of the project to build a railway through Afghanistan to the Indian Ocean aimed at strengthening the interdependence of Central and South Asia within the framework of the "North-South" international corridor. Shavkat Mirziyoyev called on partners to participate in this important project.
It was also pointed out that the development of human capital and the improvement of the quality of professional education is the next urgent issue.
"We should widely involve our talented youth in the development of national and international programs in climate change, rational use of water resources, alternative energy, digitization and other priority areas," Mirziyoyev pinpointed.
In order to ensure peace and security at the global level, the head of our country called for support for the proposal to form an international dialogue group on solving the problem of Afghanistan put forward by Uzbekistan.
At the end of his speech, the President of Uzbekistan sincerely congratulated the friendly people of India on the upcoming national holiday - Republic Day.
