The greenhouse production in Uzbekistan surged by 11.1% in 2022, and the manufacture of greenhouse tomatoes saw an increase of 26% compared to 2021. At the same time, the share of tomatoes in the total greenhouse production climbed by 8.5 percentage points, EastFruit experts report.
According to the Central Asian republic's Ministry of Agriculture, 301,000 tonnes of agricultural products were grown in the greenhouses of Uzbekistan in January-December 2022, of which 211,000 tonnes of tomatoes, i.e. 70.1% of the total greenhouse production.
For comparison, 271,000 tonnes of products were harvested in the greenhouses of the Central Asian republic in 2021, of which 167, 000 tonnes of tomatoes, or 61.6% of the total greenhouse production.
Thus, the share of tomatoes in the total greenhouse production increased from 61.6% to 70.1% in 2022.
