Acting Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov on Thursday (January 4) received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China Jiang Yan. The meeting discussed President Xi Jinping’s state visit to Uzbekistan in September 2022. Particular attention was drawn to expanding trade, economic, investment, transport, and communication ties. Besides, the Foreign Minister and China’s top diplomat in Uzbekistan shared views on collaboration within United Nations, Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and other international structures.
On the same day, the Active Foreign Minister held a meeting with the Ambassador of Italy, Agostino Pinna, to discuss the proposals on the schedule of the forthcoming joint events, including inter-Foreign political consultations and dialogue within the ‘Italy-Central Asia’ format. They noted the importance of developing a dialogue between the two countries' legislative bodies, organizing mutual visits of parliamentarians, and increasing the functioning of inter-parliamentary friendship groups. Mutual interest was expressed in increasing the supply of Uzbek products to the Italian market.
Besides, Foreign Ministry on January 4 received US Ambassador to Uzbekistan Jonathan Henick. The two sides noted that in recent years the bilateral cooperation had seen a dynamic development in politics, security, trade, economy, and other spheres, and stressed their readiness to comprehensively implement the agreements reached at the second meeting of the US-Uzbekistan Strategic Partnership Dialogue in December 2022. The two sides exchanged views on the schedule of planned activities at the bilateral level and within the C5+1 format.
