The thirty-sixth plenary session of the Senate discussed the Law on the Ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Government of the Republic of Turkey on the Transfer of Convicted Persons (Tashkent, 29 March 2022).
The document provides a legal basis and an opportunity for citizens of Uzbekistan and Turkey to serve their sentences in their countries and the transfer of convicts is carried out following the procedures specified in the law based on appeals from the contracting parties.
During the discussion, the senators stressed that serving their sentences in their country would allow them to have regular visits with close relatives. This will have a positive impact on family relations and will also facilitate the adaptation of convicts to the social life of society.
The law serves to ensure even more effective protection of the rights and interests of citizens and contributes to strengthening the positive image of the Republic in the international arena.
As you know, the agreement was signed on March 30, 2022, during the official visit of the President of the Republic of Turkey to the Republic of Uzbekistan. Following the discussion, the Senators approved the Law on the Ratification of the Agreement.
