The Organization of Turkic States (OTS) is to establish a simplified customs corridor, local media reported on Wednesday (December 28). A draft of the relevant resolution is to implement the internal procedures necessary for ensuring the agreement applies a simplified customs corridor between the Governments of the OTS, signed in Samarkand on November 11, 2022.
The document provides for the relevant notification to the depositary (Secretariat of the OTS) on the implementation of the internal procedures necessary for the entry into force of the international treaty for its implementation.
The project would create a better environment for mutual trade between the OTS member states. The full collection of customs duties, taxes, and other duties paid on the import and export of goods will be carried out under the system ‘simplified customs corridor’. In addition, it will be possible to control the information in the cargo documents, as well as to avoid intentional data distortion, and the use of forged documents in customs clearance.
