More than two dozen people have been killed and thousands left without power after a blizzard hit across the U.S. over the Christmas holiday, and officials in the Buffalo area believe the staggering death toll will continue to grow as teams carry on with search-and-rescue operations.
The nationwide death toll from the storm, which brought more than 40 inches of snow to some areas, climbed to 49 on Monday (December 26), with 27 of those deaths in Erie County, New York, Reuters reports.
