A total of 57 perennial trees got cut down in the Parkent district of the Tashkent region, the regional Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection confirmed on Thursday (December 22). In particular, forest loss was reported in four neighborhoods of the hamlet.
On December 23, the office reported the destruction of 7 trees in the Madaniyat mahalla in the Kuyichilik district. The ash trees were cut down on the night of 21 December along road 4R255. Damage estimated at 394mn UZS.
The authorities are to unveil details of the investigation once it is complete. Uzbekistan continues to register illegal cases of deforestation despite its indefinite moratorium on tree-cutting cases.
