December 20. The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in his address to the Oliy Majlis says that despite the tough and challenging period, the volume of the gross domestic product of Uzbekistan has managed to exceed 80 billion dollars for the first time in its history.
"As a result of our large-scale and effective reforms, the gross domestic product exceeded 80 billion dollars which is an unprecedented achievement (in 2018 it was 52 billion dollars). This year alone, the country received 8 billion dollars of foreign direct investments and exported goods worth 19 billion dollars (in 2018, 14 billion dollars)," Mirziyoyev states.
"This year, for the first time in our history, we brought the pensions and social benefits to a level not lower than the minimum consumption expenditure. For example, in 2017, 500,000 low-income families received social benefits, whereas over 2 million families are now enjoying state support. The allocated funds witnessed a 7-fold rise and reached 11 trillion sums per year.
We will consistently continue the policy of increasing wages, pensions and allowances, and per capita income," said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
