‘Uzbekistan’s governance system is awaiting major changes. The number of ministries and departments will be halved, many ministers will be replaced, said President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in his address to the people of Uzbekistan on Tuesday (December 20).
‘The number of ministries and departments will be reduced from the current 61 to 28. The functions of ministries and committees, agencies and inspectorates, the terms of reference of each of them will be clearly defined,’ the head of state stressed.
‘Only those who know their field deeply, who have committed themselves, and who has won the support of the people will remain in office. I think this approach is fair,’ President Shavkat Mirziyoyev added.
‘A system will be introduced whereby ministers, using their constitutional status, will work directly with the Prime Minister. That is, the draft government resolutions, important social and economic issues related to the life of the country, will be decided collectively, with the direct participation of ministers’, the head of state stressed.
According to the President, recruitment to public office will be carried out exclusively on a competitive basis.
